Description
Slug Catchers are mainly used to capture and handle large quantities of liquid that settles in flow lines (often termed “liquid holdup”). A slug catcher is a large separator usually seen in 2-phase or gas pipelines. The Slug Catcher protects other production equipment from sudden surges in liquid typically seen during pigging operations that would otherwise overload the capacity of the process facility. Slugs can also be seen due to pipeline terrain or operation in the slug-flow regime. Slugs can also be temporarily stored in the vessel to be metered gradually into the process. Slug Catchers allow for a nearly steady state process to keep operations at the processing facility as consistent as possible.
Power Service works daily with customers to get specific separators designed depending on the customer needs, so if you require further configuration or a special system that is needing more in-depth engineering, you can work directly with our application specialist and engineering team at eSpec@dnow.com.
