Description
Lease Automatic Custody Transfer (LACT) facilitates the accurate measuring of the volume and quality of petroleum products as it is transferred by automated means from the custody of one legal entity to another. The transfer can happen from a lease location to a truck onload, offload, or into a pipeline (PLACT).
There are different types of LACT unit configurations, but the basic equipment, design, and the general operation is similar. Some of the basic elements of a Power Service LACT unit are; charge pump and motor, basic sediment & water (BS&W) monitor, strainer/air eliminator, inline static mixer, divert valve, PLC/Controls, and metering (often in the form of a Coriolis meter). LACT units are usually designed to ANSI B 31.4 piping code.
LACT Units can range from small single meters, low pressure and flowrate systems, to high-pressure and flowrate systems with multiple meters, and an on-site dedicated meter prover.
